Need help with fixing a sound issue while recording a game

$

OK so I've been talking to Terry about this but no luck, so he said I could try and post the issue I showed him which is this.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/bada5cii0yfkmyg/test.avi (Never mind the lag keep in mind I talked with Terry and used the settings he gave me also might wanna lower your vol)

I messed around with the settings and even closed all tabs but the sound still does that, does anyone know anyway to fix this? The codec I been using is Xvid MPEG-4 (also tried Lossless Codec and even Microsoft Video 1) once I had CFE at 6000 and it ran "perfectfully" only issue...yeah no video just a still frame I try to keep the SKFE at 200 the CFE and PBR I messed around with a lot but that issue in the video above keeps happening the settings "changes nothing" even when my broswer closed it's still giving that sound issue.

I use Camstudios 2.6B, do I have to redownload it or can anyone help? If you use Camstudio to do Let's Plays then please try to help as I really wanna do those but this sound error is just...ugh. XD

EDIT:I forgot to say that I don't have Stereo Mix on my PC which is Windows XP, sorry I forgot to say that and the emulator I was using is visual boy advance-m.

v2.7.2r326: Recording Full Screen and using Keyboard Shortcuts causes a 0 and 1 dialog to show.

Hello,

I am trying to do a Full Screen recording and when I press the keyboard shortcut to start and stop the recording I get this dialog box with a "0" or a "1" in it and an OK button. Problem is, I have to click the OK button for the operation to take effect (which kinda defeats the whole purpose). So, when I go to stop it, it records that dialog box until I click OK. Is there some way to set CamStudio to not show these dialogs, especially the one that appears when stopping the recording? It almost seems like debug code that was left in.

I am using v2.7.2 r326.

Thanks,
Mark H.

Audio compression format question

I was using CamStudio and just updated to the following (most recent) version (2.7.2 r326).

I noticed that a setting had changed under 'Audio Options for Microphone - Compressed Format'. It went from
PCM
22050 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo 88200 Bytes/sec
to
MPEG Layer-3
22050 Hz, Stereo 8000 Bytes/sec

The Recording Format is set to 22.05 kHz, stereo, 16-bit. I don't remember if I had set PCM as the compression format in the previous version by myself or if it was the default setting.
It does show the option to change the audio compression format where the two have different attributes, but when I select PCM and click OK, nothing changes.
Not that I specifically want PCM but I'm wondering why it doesn't allow me to use it as I did before.
Is it much different than MPEG Layer-3? I just don't want to lose audio quality.

How to select a multiple frames as window?

Assume I want to record everything what happens inside the Internet Explorer.
Therefore I select Menu Region->Window and start recording.
At next I have to select a window and so I clicked on the titlebar of the IE browser.
Unfortuantely only the title bar is recorded now.
But obviosuly I want ALL sub frames (title bar, tab bar, menu bar, bookmark bar and content pane) to be recorded at once !!

No, I don't want to select a freehand region.
It should be feasible to select really the whole browser window with all sub-windows/frames.

It tried it several times again without luck.

How can I select a sub-windows set/frame composition as a window to be recorded?

Dear all,
I faced with the following issue: I need to run screen recording from a command line with Xvidcodec, but nothing happen. As a result I receive an empty file with 0 kb size. Other codecs works from command line, but they have a large size. I found on the forum that such issue can happen cause of set screen dimension - it should be multiplied 2 or 4. But I cant find command line parameter that can define dimension. Please advice me with this issue.

I find myself looking for a new codec because I can only get about 10 minutes of video with the 2 gig limit. I need a more efficient codec!

***FINAL EDIT, I some how got this working again, I dont know how, So no need for anyone to find a slolution.

Hi,

Yesterday, I was recording Fixed areas of screen and playing them back successfully.
I switched this to recording a whole window (1 monitor,I have 2). again successfully

Today , Ive switched switched back to fixed area, now It just records a black/blank screen,
When I playback, i can hear sound, (me eating or mouse clicking) but the screen, like I said is black/blank.

I'm trying to work out what Ive done to end up in this situation. I'm trying all the compression alternatives and dont seem to be getting anywhere .

If someone can shed some light on what I'm overlooking it could save me some time, which i have got plenty of. ;)

(edit) Ive gone back to V2.6 r294, which worked once, then the 2nd recording, Back to blank..

Hi there,

I have downloaded CamStudios and I DESPERATELY want to use it but I keep getting the same Error message no matter what I try to do, Fixed Region, window, full screen, any I get "The specified device handle is invalid. in Stop()"

I have tried everything I've found in this forum, I've uninstalled and reinstalled x3, I've watched the whole 40 minute vid and set my dimensions to everything stated, and to be divisible by 4. Still the same message.

Please help?

PS - using Windows 8.

CamStudio 2GB AVI limit: how to fix it?

Hi. I have a problem with an AVI of 2.3 GB; i already searched on the forum but i haven't found the solution.

If i open the video with Media Player i can listen the audio but i can't see the video.
If i open the video with VirtualDub, it shows: Invalid AVI file: LIST chunk <4 bytes.<br />If i open the video with VirtualDub doing "ask for extended options atfer this dialog", and then i tick the first two, it shows: AVI Import Filter error: error (?) (800440c7).
I have tried also with Media Coder and other programs like that i've read about on this forum, but nothing works.
I tried too with FFmpeg on ubuntu but no solution.

Do you know a way to fix this problem or i've to delete the file?
Thank you

ps. sorry for my bad english

CS crashes when exporting to MP4 format, and my cursor looks weird

I just downloaded CS a few days ago and have been playing with it for a few days. I have been able to make it work, but have a few issues I can't work out. Fair warning: I am not a super techie with this kind of thing, so bear with me if I don't provide everything necessary the first time, or ask a silly question.

First, whenever I try to record a video and export to the MP4 format, CS crashes at around the 95-97% mark during the export process. The file actually appears in my export folder, but it is all black. It plays (the play bar at the bottom progresses through the length the video was), but the screen is black. I have been able to record in the AVI format just fine, and then convert the file using a converter, but that's just one extra, and annoying step. Any thoughts?

Also, regardless of the file format I choose, my cursor always looks odd (see the black marks on it here? http://imgur.com/Os8tbOz). I haven't changed ANY of the cursor settings, or added any enhancements to the way the program installs. This is just the way it appears. Have you seen this before? Any fixes?

Here are the stats of my computer I can think to post. If you need more to diagnose the issue, just let me know:

- Version of CS - 2.7.2 build on mercurial release r326
- Windows 7 - 64 bit
- i7-3615QM Processor @ 2.30 GHz
- 8 GB memory
- The codec I downloaded was on xvid's website (http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html). CS lists it as "Xvid MPEG-4 Codec" on the video options screen, though I've had the same experience using the Microsoft 1 codec that comes with CS
- Video options are set to capture frames every 2 milliseconds, and playback at 500 frames/second with the auto adjust and lock capture and playback rates boxes checked
- Xvid settings are set to "Xvid HD 1080", with single pass encoding. Target equalizer is set to 1.00 and the quality preset is set to "General Purpose"
- Recording region is set to "Window"
- I am recording audio on my microphone

Thanks!

eRecoveryAgent?

$

So, because of a few key polling bugs in CamStudio 2.7.2, I decided to revert back to 2.6b. The setup was from sourceforge, so I'm confused on why this was happening. I installed 2.6b, and had to log out, then back in for an unrelated reason. When I logged back on, I had this minimized, unopenable window called "eRecoveryAgent." After googling around, I found out that eRecoveryAgent is some Acer backup kind of program. Except that I'm not on an Acer. I'm wondering whether or not this is related to CamStudio, which is why I'm posting this. I also searched around this forum, but I still found nothing. So, is this related, or just the weirdest and creepiest coincidence ever?

Thanks.

Experiment: Create MP4 video with sound compatible with many media players and devices

$

-Objective : Create an out of the box MP4 video with sound compatible with many media players and devices
-Status: Failed partially (it is possible to create an MP4 video that unfortunately must not contain audio track or else it will have a very limited compatibility)
-Requirements:
1. Container
a. Type=MP4 (Passed - included in Camstudio 2.7.2)
2. Video track
a. Encoding Format=H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (Passed aided by third party codec; used x264vfw though may not be the only one)
b. Profile=High (Passed - profile available in x264vfw)
3. Audio track
!a.Encoding Format=Low Complexity AAC (LC-AAC)(Failed: I couldn't find any encoder for this)
-Issues:
1. LC-AAC encoder;
2. Camstudio always PCM bug
-Known workarounds:
1. Generate SWF instead of MP4 (needs quality set to 100 to avoid visible quality loss; unfortunately this reduces video's compatibility across devices and media players);
2. Use PCM instead of LC-AAC (also reduces compatibility)
3. Use PCM and then use a transcoder to encode the audio track into LC-AAC (best workaround, but it needs an extra step; for transcoder anything from WinFF to MediaCoder will do)
-Final note: This discussion has as objective the resolving of the 2 issues mentioned above.

Hi Terry,

first thank you for great CamStudio and your working in the support forum!

I have the following problem:
After installing CamStudio warns my safety scanner: the file "BunndleOfferManager.exe" is potentially malicios. Can you explain to me why this file is in the program folder of CamStudio and what purpose does it have?
Can I delete it?

Thank you in advance!
Heidi

General Recording Issues

$

So, I managed to install CamStudio. I am able to record video. I am unable to capture audio from any source... Speakers, headset speaker, laptop mic, headset mic, nothing. My goal is to have the mic audio and program audio record simultaneously... the end result is that I would record Let's Play videos using this software. How do I best accomplish this?

In the meantime, I have had some very erratic results in attempting to record testfiles for audio checks... Changing precisely no video encoding settings of any kind in the process, I have recorded three videos... The first was 900MB for just under 2 minutes of mute video. The second was 1.2 GB for 90 seconds. The third was 23.4 MB for 60 seconds (and choppy as hell). I have no explanation that I can offer for these wildly different results, since as I mentioned, nothing changed with the video codec. The only change between the second and third recording was that I switched the "record audio from" checkmark option from mic to speakers (which gave me a WaveoutGetSelectControl() error dialog box), and also failed to record any kind of sound at all.

CamStudio 2.7.2 error in file conversion

Hi Terry
I have installed the latest version of Camstudio (2.7.2) on my system. However when I am trying to receive the recorded files in MP4 format, I get an error " MP4 converter failed to start" and the compression freezes at 93-96%. My system configuration is 32 bit OS with 2GB RAM. I tried the same on another system with 64 bit OS and it works fine. Please let me know if there is any dependency of the software on the type of OS used.

The Discussion Title says it all. I had to switch to the Microsoft Video 1 codec to stop the crashes. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks.
