Serious malware infection from Camstudio installer

Today I received a detailed malware report associated with the "adware" which accompanied the new Camstudio installer.

I've never been a fan of these adware packages, mainly because the people who run them depend for their livelihood on deception, and that makes them inherently untrustworthy. Anyone who relies on dishonesty to make a sale can never be trusted to tell the truth.

However when the software in question triggers not only my antivirus software, but also alarms from our security gateway, that's far beyond adware.

There's no question about the cause of this alert, I've got detailed logs, and it's 100% certain that the Camstudio installer installed malware on one of my computers.

I'm deeply disturbed and disappointed that it's come to this. This can only damage the reputation of this project and everyone involved.

Importing Lagarith lossless Codec 1.5 avi into Adobe PremierePro CC

Hello,

I am new but very impressed with CamStudio so far apart from one bugbear. I am able to make some super videos in avi but cannot import them into Premiere. It says the file is damaged or unrecognised.

I am recording in the recommended settings Key frame every 100 and capture frames 40 and payback rate 25.

I thought that it may be that the dimensions of the film were the issue, so downloaded sizer and then captured on 1280x720 but this did not solve the problem.

I found a run around fix which was to use Windows Movie maker to convert to mp4 but there is a considerable loss of quality.

I make quite a few fluffs and also need to add text and other elements to my films so I need to use Adobe. I also tried with PowerDirector and had the same issue there too.

Can anyone offer a solution please?

I'd like to record my chat-roullete sessions (as full-window), as I am using another open tab/window to use a soundboard. Is it possible to record a tab/windows content in full-screen, even if during recording, it's rezsized, to allow other tabs be seen on my screen?

everytime that i close camstudio_cli the video generated is corrupted, i have try several ways to close it and none of them works fine. i have read on the internet there are more people having the same problem that i have. i use this command to start camstudio_cli: "C:\Users\sistemas\Downloads\camstudio_cl.exe -outfile C:\Users\sistemas\Desktop\test.avi -codec 3", what could i do to close it so the file test.avi wasn´t corrupted?. i would like to record the session of a user once he logs in the computer, i would use that command at the beginning of his session to start recording but i dont know what to do to close the software at the end of his session. the only way i have achieved the file test.avi is not corrupted is entering the return key inside the ms-dos window. i dont want the user to do this since i dont want the user to be aware that i am recording his session.

thanks in advance for your help.

i look forward to getting your news.

if you need more info about this issue, just let me know.

regards.

Video Compressors

So wait, we have to install the video compressors? How do we do that; where do we get them?

"CamStudio could not record the AVI file using the current compressor. Use default compressor?"

I get this using Xvid. It doesn't always happen. If I screw with the quality slider, eventually It will record. I did notice this happening after I installed the DIvx package. I wouldn't think Divx would be a problem, however. Any ideas what this might be and how to fix it?

I've got my webcam plugged in, and I also have some 'virtual' webcams that I use for other applications (ManyCam for example). But regardless of what I try, I always get the "Unable to detect Webcam/Video source" error message.

Any ideas?

MSVCRI00.dll error message...can't install CamStudio

$

I've tried several times to install CamStudio, but I always get a message saying "This application has failed to start
because MSVCRI00.dll was not found." I've downloaded the zip file I need from this site: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr100 (in the bottom right corner) but I still get the same message. I've pasted the contents in my 32 and 64 folder and get the same result. One problem is I'm not sure which of the seven options on that site I need to download.
Can anyone offer some help? Thanks.

My Camstudio Video Looks Like an Andy Warhol Painting

Okay, I streamed a video to test the service for the first time. I recorded the vid and the result is a collage of strange colors and four repeating images appearing on the screen at the same time. I'm assuming I didn't use the proper setting, so if anyone has any idea what I did wrong, please let me know.

no stereo mix

Hi there.

Due to my last laptop going into meltdown, I have had to replace it... I rather hastily bought a lenovo G50-45. Not exactly a high end machine, but on paper it seemed like it was suited for my needs... if only temporarily. It runs win8 64... but something i never knew about it at the time, and I know I'm not exactly adept with computers, is that it seems to lack stereomix as one of the options in the sounds tab. Even when i check the boxes looking for disabled or disconnected devices.

So, i have been struggling to record any sounds with camstudio. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how i can resolve this issue? Any advice at all would be appreciated...

If you would require any more system information or whatever, I will be happy to oblige as I would like to get this sorted.

In advance, i would like to thank you for your time. I have been using camstudio for a couple of years now, and i really like it and would like to continue to use it.

Video too big

hello

I use the latest version of CamStudio but I can not get a video with an acceptable weight. Indeed, I only happen to have videos of 200MB or more for just 1 minute.

I have try to use 3 codec :

Jawor's Xvid compressor/codec -
http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1052&ssid=0&did=14

X.264vfw compressor/codec -
http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/

CamStudio Lossless Codec 1.5
http://www.free-codecs.com/CamStudio_Lossless_Codec_download.htm

I know that the top 2 are the best but they no work ...

Jawor's Xvid compressor/codec :
The video has a nice weight but unfortunately when I film something moving, once the video is recorded it is very jerky and it gives a headache. Lack of fluidity.

X.264vfw compressor/codec :
The beginning and end are not recorded.

CamStudio Lossless Codec 1.5
The video is much too large. I get about 2 Mo (16 Mb) for 1 minute. It is too much ...

Can you help me configure CamStudio and select the right codec?

Thank you in advance for your help.

hey, I have been trying to record various windows and screen regions yet when I finish the recording wether it would be in avi format or mp4 it wont save. if it's recording in avi when it pops to save it doesn't give me a choice for file type so it stays empty. and if im recording in mp4 it tells me failed to start mp4 converter. Can someone please help me with this issue as I want to start recording on my pc.

Corrupted CamStudio by accidently closing CS as it was saving file

I love CamStudio and have used it constantly for the past 7 months. Today I was saving a 30 min capture (about 450Mb and right before it finished saving I accidentally closed CS. I got into a situation where I couldn't exit/close the error screens and had to use task manager to close the error and CS processes. After rebooting my PC, CS will run but it runs a bit differently than before (no xvid status screen) but more importantly the videos it produces will not play. I get a "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". I want to fix this ASAP, will I need to uninstall then reinstall? Or maybe I can fix some other way?

problem getting Premier Elements to recognize CamStudio output

$

First of all; congratulations on a great product. I have been using CamStudio for a couple of months and have completed a number of videos (many are 30 minutes, two are 50 minutes long) and uploaded them to Vimeo. They look absolutely fabulous in full screen 1080p.

Recently, I discovered that I needed to do some minor editing to a couple of the videos. In one case I needed to remove 20 seconds of dead air, in the other, I need to insert an additional 30-40 seconds of video in the middle of an existing clip.

Since I am new to video, but extremely comfortable with Adobe products from my photography work, I purchased Adobe Premier Elements (their basic video editor) since my edits seemed to be pretty basic.

Imagine my surprise when Premier Elements would not open the AVI file frm CamStudio. I found a video/audio converter (Brorsoft) that I am testing and it does a fine job of converting the video to a format that PE can read.

It would make life easier for me if my output file frm Cam Studio could be read directly by Premier Elements. I am currently using the XVID MPEG-4 codec that you recommended.

The documentation on Premier Elements indicates that it will accept an .avi file as input!

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you
