v2.7.2r326: Recording Full Screen and using Keyboard Shortcuts causes a 0 and 1 dialog to show.

Hello,

I am trying to do a Full Screen recording and when I press the keyboard shortcut to start and stop the recording I get this dialog box with a "0" or a "1" in it and an OK button. Problem is, I have to click the OK button for the operation to take effect (which kinda defeats the whole purpose). So, when I go to stop it, it records that dialog box until I click OK. Is there some way to set CamStudio to not show these dialogs, especially the one that appears when stopping the recording? It almost seems like debug code that was left in.

I am using v2.7.2 r326.

Thanks,
Mark H.

CamStudio dies on mouseover

I hit record and place the fixed region (divisible by 2 - in fact, just the default 320x240) on the screen. CamStudio immediately reduces to the system tray. There is nothing in the taskbar. The icon will sit in the system tray happily until I approach it with the mouse pointer. The instant it contacts the icon, the icon disappears. There is no prompt to save and no recording has taken place. I've tried all the recommended settings plus uninstalling/reinstalling Xvid codec (the recommended one - Jawor's) and CamStudio itself. I have even reverted to version 2.0 which plagues me with the avi codec error. Version 2.0 used to work fine for me and I can't think what might have changed to upset it. Any ideas?

Camstudio video doesn't play nice with Adobe Premiere - Stuttering video

I love, love, love this tool. It's peerless for sure, but I've had a constant problem with using Camstudio video in Adobe Premiere. I have tried a few different recording methods, but have settled on Camstudio's lossless codec at 20 fps. When I import to premiere and preview it, the mouse and other motion is jumpy hopping back and forth like video game lag.

If I "interpret" the media to treat it as if it were 50 or 60 fps in Premiere, it works nicely, but only so long as I don't mess with it too much like trying to play it faster or slower. Even then, it's a bit of experimenting to figure out what frame rate to emulate for it to play smoothly.

I don't know what else to say other than this makes things unnecessarily difficult and I hope there's some kind of solution :(

Couldn't download 2.7 from website

Sorry -- I think I posted this on the wrong page before. Couldn't download 2.7 from camstudio website. Norton 360 deleted it, said it had both a trojan and a virus. Did download from sourceforge. Only problems I've had: window option doesn't work when you have 2 monitors. And 2.7 can't remember the output directory when you set the option and select a directory.

Hi folks,

I am trying to record my image (face) from my LOGITECH webcam, and voice from a SENHIESSER USB headset mic. These both work fine on SKYPE etc. However, the video jumps very often and also the audio is out of sync (visually) with my mouth.

I have tried all of the compressor options and everything else on this particular page/window.

I don't think that you can UPLOAD images onto this forum and so I have placed 3 x screenshots in my Google Drive:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByepppzJGXGefnhxdHpyaGlWaF9RQjVEekxvbjQ2NUVTZmNBLVZLQ2cxOWZ3dXM5YklHNGM&usp=sharing

In the CONFIGURE section, I can increase the QUALITY RATION from 75 to 100, but it will not SAVE (it keeps reverting back to 75?!).

I followed as best I could all of the instructions on Terry's You Tube video:

I am on WINDOWS XP.

Many thanks in advance . . .

Paul David Seaman

Actual Input Rate at 3 - 4 fps, no system lag or high resource use?

I've been trying to record with a number of settings and compressions and frame rates, but no matter what I do the actual input rate stays at 3 - 4 fps.
There is no lagging, no performance hit, it just stays around there. I use my computer for gaming and run just about everything so its not a matter of power,
I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit)
I'm using a nVidia GTX 260 factory overclocked.
E2500 @ 3Ghz
8GB DDR2 RAM

I've tried altering the frame rate manually and auto, setting to max and my preferred minimum (24 fps) does nothing, I've tried playing with the key frames, the capture every # milliseconds setting, the lot, but I just cant get a higher fps.
audio is recorded perfectly, but the recording is useless when its 4 fps, it might as well be a bunch of stills.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you in advanced,
Bombshell

Is PlayOn and Camstudio compatible?

I've been using Camstudio 2.0 for a few years without issues. Suddenly, I no longer can record audio along with the video. I've uninstalled/reinstalled. I've tried Camstudio 2.7. Still unable to record audio. Video does record.

I did install PlayOn so I'm wondering if that could cause audio recording issues. I tried researching the issue but no one seems to have my old Dell PC and soundcard and XP.

I'm running Win7 Pro SP1 and CamStudio version2.7.4 r354. I'm trying to capture a region. When I click on start the + region selector blinks rapidly and seems to have a mind of it's own. I can't get it to stay over the region I want. It drifts. My old CamStudio was solid for delineating the region. How can I make my new version stop being so irradic?

Henry

Video and Audio Desync After a Pause

I have noticed that audio and video get out of sync as soon as I pause the recording and resume it. It seems that the video lags behind the audio by as many seconds as the pause has lasted.
Someone has told me that this is a known issue since version 2.1
I am starting this thread in hopes of finding some workaround.
A simple brute force solution is to stop the recording, start another recording when needed and use a video editor to merge the two videos. The problem is that merging videos takes and obscene amount of time when the videos are relatively long. Say of 15 minutes each.
Any help with this known issue would be greatly appreciated.

No way to stop recording Screen flashing like crazy

I'm new to CamStudio. I tried to record my screen for the first time and when I was done I was trying to get the CamStudio window back on the screen so I could click the stop button. But there was no way to get the window back on the screen. For some reason it would not come back on the screen when I clicked on it's icon at the bottom of the screen. I tried minimizing all the other windows, but nothing was working. I had no way to stop the recording. I started pushing buttons on my keyboard, eventually my screen started going nuts flashing like crazy. There was nothing I could do to get it to stop flashing. I had to do a hard restart of my computer.

Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Why couldn't I get the Camstudio window back to stop my recording and why did it go nuts flashing like crazy?

Thanks

If I have Select Screen checked under the Region menu, then click the record icon, as soon as I click any of my 3 displays to indicate the display I want to record, I get the following Windows error:

CamStudio Recorder has stopped working.

Tried reinstalling, rebooting, starting as administrator with no luck. Cannot Capture Full Screen of 16:9 Second Monitor

$

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and CamStudio (2.7 r316 from SourceForge). I'm trying to capture the screen of my second monitor, but it only captures part of it. The left side is cut off about 25% and black is added to the right side, about 25%, maybe more. The bottom is also cut off slightly. The actual capture, aside from the black, appears to be a 5:4 image, cut off from the rest. But the Region option chosen was "Select Screen". Both my laptop and second monitor are 16:9 displays. It will capture my laptop screen fine, but not if I make it my secondary screen. Also, if I choose Region or Fixed Region, I seem to be limited to the right-most 75% of the screen. I've tried Camtasia's trial version, and it captures the full 16:9 secondary screen fine. Any ideas, suggestions?

Thank you

Using CamStudio Recorder v2.7.4, performed recording in AVI mode, but it is saved as .wav file

Using CamStudio Recorder v2.7.4, performed recording in AVI mode, but it is saved as .wav file.
File size is 4GB.

Referring the discussions, I tried to convert .wav to .avi using VirtualDub-1.10.4, but not completely successful.

Only few seconds of the content records got converted from .wav to .avi, and that too the content converted was in between the recording. So not sure how VirtualDub-1.10.4 performed action.

Following is what I have done using VirtualDub-1.10.4.

1. downloaded VirtualDub-1.10.4
2. opened VirtualDub tool
3. from the tool, using the active option to OPEN VIDEO FILE, in that file open window, checked "ask extended options after this dialog"
4. in the next dialog, checked the first option - "re-derive key frame flags"
5. And the .wav file got opened
6. After opening, it processed for a while to reconstruct and gave a warnings message as "Index not found or damaged - reconstructing via file scan" & "invalid chunk detected at 2056, enabling aggressive recovery mode", so clicked OK button

And what I see is only few seconds of recording got converted from .wav to .avi

So, I am looking for a better tool (if any) to resolve this, can you kindly suggest any better tool or process to convert the 4GB .wav to .avi

Thanks in advance.
